I am a current WCU student, how do I apply for USH housing? At this time, housing for current WCU students is being offered off our waitlist. Please follow the instructions below to be added to the USH waitlist for current WCU students.

How do I apply to be on the USH waitlist for the 2021-2022 academic year? USH has a waitlist process that opened on February 1, 2021 for all currently enrolled WCU students. Due to the anticipation of limited housing being available we recommend you sign up for the waitlist as soon as possible. Housing offers will be made off the waitlist if housing becomes available for current WCU students.

Adding your name to the USH waitlist does not guarantee housing. Offers will be made from now through the 2021-2022 academic year as space becomes available. USH anticipates being able to make offers to students on the waitlist but there are no guarantees. Offers from the waitlist will be sent via email.

  • You can only add your name to the waitlist once.
  • The waitlist is not for any specific building or suite style. You will be contacted and offered a room based on availability.
  • If your desired roommate(s) have already secured housing, being on the waitlist does not give you priority housing availability, increase your chances for a housing offer, or hold a bed space for you.

I am an incoming first-year student for 2021-2022, will I receive housing? USH Affiliated housing and WCU owned housing have beds for incoming first-year students. The housing application will be opening for incoming first-year students (i.e., current high school seniors) who deposited with admissions before January 1, 2021 on March 8, 2021. First-year students who deposited after January 1, 2021 will receive instructions on a rolling basis from housing@wcupa.edu. The earlier you apply and complete your housing paperwork, the more likely you are to get your housing preference however it is not guaranteed. The waitlist mentioned above is NOT for incoming first-year students.

I am an incoming transfer student for 2021-2022, will I receive housing? USH Affiliated housing and WCU owned housing have beds for incoming transfer students (I.e., a student currently enrolled and attending another college or university). The housing application process is not currently open for incoming transfer students. The process will open for transfer students in late March. You will receive email instructions from housing@wcupa.edu when the application opens. The earlier you apply and complete your housing paperwork, the more likely you are to get your housing preference; however, it is not guaranteed. The waitlist mentioned above is NOT for incoming transfer students.

How do I know my paperwork is complete/housing is secure?
Applicants and Guarantors receive an email with the subject “Your USH Housing Paperwork is Complete!” from USH (leasing@ushcommunities.org) after all documents have been signed. This email contains the next steps, which include the opportunity to sign up for GradGuard Renter’s Insurance and complete roommate matching.

Will I be required to pay a non-refundable, non-transferable application fee for the 2021-2022 lease term? All applicants are required to submit a non-refundable and non-transferable $200 application fee at the time the application is submitted. This fee is NOT a deposit and will not be returned to an applicant at any point. If a student applies and then decides that they are no longer interested in living with USH, this fee will not be returned and cannot be transferred to traditional housing.

If you paid a $200 application fee for 2020-2021 and did not live with USH at any time during the 2020-2021 academic year you will not be required to pay the $200 non-refundable, non-transferable application fee for the 2021-2022 academic year.

If you paid a $200 application fee and did live with USH at any time during the 2020-2021 academic year, you will be required to pay a new $200 non-refundable, non-transferable application fee for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Can I be guaranteed my roommate request? USH will work to accommodate roommate requests when all students in the roommate group have a completed application and lease documents during the time room assignments are being created. Listing another student as your desired roommate does not guarantee that student housing with USH or give them the ability to apply.

Roommate matching will occur in mid-March for current WCU students and later in the spring for incoming first-year and transfer students. USH will send an email with instructions on when and how to complete roommate matching. Please note; if you have desired roommates in mind, ensure you are each signing up for the same building and suite style.

Will I get the same room assignment for the 2021-2022 academic year? We cannot guarantee that you will receive your previous housing assignment. However, once we assign rooms, we will offer a room change period prior to the start of the fall semester. Room change requests are not guaranteed.

If I would like to switch my housing provider from USH Affiliated Housing to WCU Owned “Traditional” or vice versa, will that be permitted? If you receive a housing offer from either USH Affiliated Housing or WCU Owned housing “Traditional,” it only applies to the housing provider that has made the offer. If you wish to switch housing providers, you will be required to apply to the waitlist and then follow all required steps if you are offered housing.
