The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills and must be outcome-oriented. The ability to work in a fast paced environment with a strong attention to detail is essential. This exciting position will serve as the first point of contact for many of our residents and guests and must project a fun, engaging and professional attitude at all times. This position will support both managers and employees through a variety of tasks related to organization and communication. The Facilities Director is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the infrastructure of all USH properties including oversight of custodial and maintenance operations, landscaping, grounds, and all systems. The Facilities Director manages a safe and efficient working environment, essential to the performance of the business.
Essential Job Functions:
Collaborates with West Chester University (WCU) facilities department and third-party vendors for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services for all USH properties including custodial operations, grounds and landscaping, and facility operations (i.e. HVAC, geothermal systems, fire alarm systems, etc).
Plans, schedules, and supervises regular and preventative maintenance and repair of USH buildings and grounds.
Oversees equipment and systems replacement or upgrades, including warranty management.
Oversees inspections of all building systems.
Develops processes, procedures and sets goals and priorities to ensure timely responses to completion of projects and/or work orders.
Ensures building code compliance
Ensures effective, constant communication with the USH leadership team regarding all maintenance projects and related safety concerns.
Develops and monitors annual facility budget.
Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Science, Electrical Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in skilled trades.
Three (3) + years of supervisory experience.
Five (5) + years of increasingly responsible experience in building maintenance and construction which involved facility planning, construction, maintenance and operations.
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to work outside of normal business hours to fit business needs.
Specific certification in the area/industry of responsibility may be required.
Ability to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
Ability to perform on-site inspections, alterations and repairs
Knowledge of and adherence to safety practices
Specific knowledge-based competencies and ability to operate equipment used in building trades
Compose and understand technical documents
Facilitate group discussions, analyze situations to define and draw conclusions
Ability to schedule and manage multiple events and projects simultaneously
Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create actions plans
Meticulous attention to detail while always displaying tact and courtesy
Ability to learn and fully utilize various computer software programs related to facilities management, as well as Microsoft Office Suite products
